Compute belongs in daylight. Aurelyon is a constellation of solar datacenters assembling itself above the atmosphere — silicon that drinks raw sunlight, cools against the vacuum, and answers by laser.
A design fiction in orbital infrastructure. Every figure aboard is an engineering target, and says so.
The climb runs four hundred kilometres to the geostationary shelf. The constellation builds itself around you on the way up.
The grid ends where the weather does.
Every datacenter on the ground argues with its planet — for water, for land, for the evening peak. Move the rack far enough up and the argument stops.
Sunlight, unfiltered
Above the air, a solar wing meets the raw output of a star. No cloud, no haze, no evening. Aurelyon nodes ride a dawn–dusk sunline where the panels stay lit the whole orbit round, and the power budget is written against the star instead of a utility.

Heat is the tax every datacenter pays, and down there it is paid in rivers and chillers. Up here the bill is settled by physics: vane radiators face three-kelvin space and the waste heat of inference simply leaves.

Optical crosslinks stitch the shell into one machine. A request enters at the nearest gateway, rides light the whole way, and lands wherever a node happens to be lit — the scheduler follows the sun, not the map.

Each Aurelyon node is the same five pieces of deliberate hardware, folded for launch and self-assembled on station. You are flying past them now — the frames drifting into place outside are these.

KEEL FRAME · MACHINED IN ONE PIECEThe chassis everything else trusts. A single milled keel carries the compute stack, the tanks and the boom roots, so thermal paths are short and nothing flexes that shouldn't.

ARRAY TARGET · 84 kW ON STATIONTwin roll-out arrays tuned for the sunline. They unspool from the bus like sails, feed the stack directly, and feather a few degrees when a node needs to shed load.

SINK · DEEP SPACE, 3 KRibbed radiator fins that turn inference heat into infrared and post it into the void. No pumps to fail closed — the loop is capillary and the vanes just stare at nothing.

GROUND SEGMENT · YOUR END OF THE WIREA flat phased-array panel the size of a door, sitting on a roof near your traffic. It sees a node rise, opens the uplink, and the sky answers your request.
An honest fiction, engineered anyway.
Aurelyon is not a company you can invest in. It is an engineering thesis wearing one: the constellation overhead is procedural, the telemetry is a model, and no satellite has flown.
What is real is the argument — that the cheapest, cleanest watt a machine intelligence will ever drink is one that never touches a grid. We hold the fiction to real physics and publish the working. Nothing on this page is a measured result, and nothing pretends to be.
Sunlight is the only subsidy.
Power budgets are written against the star. If a design needs a tariff to close, it doesn't close.
Heat leaves, or nothing works.
Thermal design comes before silicon. Every watt in is a watt the vanes must post to the void.
Dark compute is wasted mass.
A node idling in shadow should not have flown. The scheduler keeps the fleet on the day side of useful.
Failure drifts, it never crashes.
A sick node feathers its wing, hands its queue to a neighbour, and waits for a patch — the mesh routes around it.

The scheduler walks the photonic mesh to a lit node — always the day side, always the shortest bright path.

Tokens stream back down the same light. The reply carries which node served it, and whether it was in sunrise.
